- EARLY MAGAZINE COVERS- These just looked like papers. They had writing, and no pictures. They looked like federal documents.The pictures that they had on them, if any, usually were for decoration purposes, ad had nothing to do with what was inside the magazine.
- THE POSTER COVER- The magazines began to have images on them, covering most of the page, but the title or writing did not cover the picture. And most of the time the picture had nothing to do with the contents of the magazine, it just represented the season, or a mood.
- PICTURES MARRIED TO TYPE- These magazine covers were when there began to be cover lines on the covers of magazines, these cover lines indicated what was in the magazine, and the pictures on the covers began to cover the whole page.
- IN THE FORREST OF WORDS- These magazine covers began to have cover lines in the middle, and more prominent, but the covers became more important. there started to be more models, and celebrities on magazines.
